22 Weeks

What’s Will up to? He’s about 10.94 inches long and 1.4 pounds to be exact. Baby can hear now: the gurgle of your digestion, the muffled, watery sound of your voice, and your strong and reassuring heartbeat that has been his constant companion. There are teeth buds under his gums, and hair sprouting on his head. His tiny fingers are strong enough to grip things now, and fetuses at this age are often spotted holding the umbilical cord. Though he practices breathing movements all the time now, his lungs aren't mature enough to breathe on their own. The complicated brain-to-eye wiring that will allow the baby to see is working like crazy this week, though it may be more than a month before his fused eyelids open. I believe Will had a major growth spurt this week. I couldn’t stay full and he wasn’t moving around as much as he had been so I think he was busy putting on some weight!

Appointment: My appointment was on 3.2.12 with my Peri. There was no change in my body since last week which is great news! They brought me up to Labor & Delivery to monitor me for contractions for an hour so Chris and I enjoyed a romantic Chipotle lunch from the room. The ultrasound tech couldn’t see the hole in Will’s heart today so I am believing that it’s closed but we will have a follow up ECHO once Will arrives this summer. Will weighs 1.4 pounds and is measuring 3 days ahead of schedule so right on track.

Bed Rest: 6 weeks complete, only 9-11 more to go.

Highlights: Today’s appointment with no change in  my body and no longer seeing the hole in Will’s heart. Will’s bedding, mobile and valance arrived from Diapers.com. My cousin Amber who had her baby last week, stopped by to visit – Kandall is so beautiful!

My body: I am up 12 pounds total and my tummy has grown 11” total. I asked the Dr. if she was concerned that I haven’t gained any weight in 3 weeks but have been eating a lot and she told me that I am probably losing muscle mass. I was a little bummed to hear that but she said it comes back quickly.
My God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. He is my refuge, my savior, the one who saves me from violence.
2 Samuel 22:3

You look great Momma! Don't worry about the weight gain...I had those very same concerns during my pregnancy. Your body has a way of knowing how to balance everything out! I'm so happy you and Will are doing great...hang tight...he will be here before you know it!
