What’s Will up to? According to
Baby Center, he is about 14 1/2 inches long with his legs extended. He's
sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing his eyes, and
perhaps even sucking his fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your
baby's brain is very active now. While his lungs are still immature, they would
be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if he were born now.
Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby
hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few
moments, and they don't bother him, so just relax and enjoy the tickle.
Sorry for the late post, I probably won’t post again until
this weekend and hopefully there won’t be anything new to report! Things has
been busy around here since my last post! I had a second round of steroid shots
to help Will’s lungs develop If he comes early, this will be the last of these
shots. I had some contractions on Thursday night, I had to be put on a 48 medication
to help calm things down. I guess that only lasted the 48 hours because I also
had a rough night on Saturday with contractions again. So I started magnesium
sulfate on Sunday morning for 24 hours to also help calm things down and also
will help with Will’s brain. And as of today, I will be on Nifedipine until at
least 34 weeks to help keep the contractions away and my uterus calm! So
medically, a lot going on but today is a new day and it’s much better!
Appointment: We had a growth
ultrasound for Will today. He is measuring exactly to the date. They looked for
the hole in his heart again today and it appears that it is closed! They estimated
his weight at 2 pounds 5 ounces which puts him in the 48th
percentile.
Bed Rest/Hospital Stay: 10 weeks
complete – 8 at home and 2 at North Memorial. I got an airbed put on top if my mattress
and it helps the pain in my hips and I think PT is also helping.
Highlights: Was today (technically
should be on the 27 week post…) getting to see Will on the big screen for an
hour. I also got a 2 minute longer wheel chair ride to the appointment and they
quickly wheeled me outside. First time I had any fresh air in 2 ½ weeks. The Azaleas
are in full bloom with lots of new growth all around. It was WONDERFUL!
My body: I am up a total of 19
pounds and 13“ on my tummy!
For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; It is I
who say to you, "Fear not, I am the one who helps you." Isaiah 41:13
